Tools we recommend
Prepare the area by digging out the lawn and top soil to a depth of 70mm. You may need a skip to dispose of the sod.
Next, edge the perimeter with 50mm x 50mm tanalised treated timber and secure in place using wooden stakes. Ideally these should be placed at 0.25m intervals. Alternatively use aluminium edging for curved borders. Against hard edging such as patio we recommend using a concrete haunch.
Preparing the base
Cover the entire area with type 1 limestone (approx. 1 X bulk bag (0.8Tonne) – 10sqm) to a depth of 40mm. The area will need to be compacted by using a compaction plate.
On top goes a 25mm layer of sharp sand (approx. 250 kg – 10sqm). Level off and compact the sand to finish flush with the top of the timber edging.
Lay the weed membrane across the entire lawn and secure to the timber edging with 40mm galvanised nails.
Installation of Grass
Roll out the Titan Grass, making sure the grass pile is facing in the same direction. Allow a 5cm overlap if securing to a timber edge. Once you are happy with the placement of the grass secure it in place using 40mm galvanised nails evenly spaced out. We suggest a nail every 10cm.
